Sakand-1 is a high-powered rocket I am building as part of the Edmonton rocketry club, designed to earn my Level 1 (L1) high-power rocketry certification.

CAD design — The complete rocket was modeled in Onshape as a full assembly: an ogive nose cone, slotted body tubes, a plywood fin set with through-the-wall tab construction, centering rings, and a motor mount. An exploded assembly was used to verify every interface and plan the build sequence before cutting any material.

CFD analysis — Aerodynamic performance was evaluated with a custom OpenFOAM pipeline. Surface meshes of the rocket were run through steady-state simulations and post-processed in ParaView to extract drag coefficients, lift and moment coefficients, and pressure distributions along the airframe and fins — informing stability margins and expected flight performance.

Status — The design and analysis phases are complete; the rocket is currently moving into fabrication and integration ahead of its certification flight. Following the L1 flight, Sakand-1 will serve as the platform for further work in liquid propulsion and onboard avionics.
